Parenting ideas for a profitable New Yr.

CHARLOTTE, NC – This morning on Parenting Today we talk about something we can all relate to – the ongoing stress caused by the pandemic and how to be successful. Beatrice Moise, Parenting Coach and Board Certified Cognitive Specialist, accompanies us with a few tips so that we can hopefully breathe a little easier.

Tip 1: Put your needs first.

Parents need to prioritize mental and emotional and physical health. Remember, you can only spend what you have saved. Don’t exhaust yourself emotionally and physically by making your needs a priority.

Tip 2: be flexible with changes (virtual learning, Covid-19 & variants).

The pandemic has changed so many things that used to be normal and are no longer. It is important that parents are flexible and adapt to very fluid and organic situations.

Tip 3: Communicate with your child regularly.

Your child 5+ needs to know what you are thinking and you need to know what they’re feeling and thinking. Open up lines of communication, keep your little ones informed. Kids won’t be surprised and trust the plan if you keep them updated.

Tip 4: Praise your child regularly.

Children often deal with negative situations and stimuli. It is important that you feel good about yourself. You can’t praise them enough. Your praise will go a long way in enhancing your child’s mood and overall wellbeing.
